MY NAME IS SHABNAM. I am an author, motivational speaker and a teacher who never gives up on self- learning!

I grew up in a small town in India, behind literal and figurative walls, walls that were called compound walls, but were in essence, walls of silence.

My writings and my speaking engagements are all about breaking through these walls of silence, claiming yourself and overcoming assumptions and expectations that society wants to confine us within.

I write to prove that I exist was the reason I wrote my memoir, A Fractured Life.   Born into three generations of silence, my words on paper, redeemed me. The cycle stopped.

TODAY, I make it my life’s work to help those who struggle with finding the words to express themselves, by reaching deep within, exploring their voices that they have silenced and guiding them towards a life they can live on their own terms with courage and acceptance.

As part of helping people find a voice on a  larger platform, I am also the host of a channel called Dew Drops and Words, on Fox 5 Plus, a local Washington DC, TV station.

I reach out through talks, seminars and workshops, to those who need to come out of their own shadows and find themselves.

I AM ALSO the founder of the Panchgani WritersRetreat, an international writing and wellness retreat based out of Panchgani in India.

The retreat incorporates mindful living along with creativity and wellness following Ayurveda principles with yoga, meditation and writing workshops.
